UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
Currently open for drinks in the garden but come Tuesday 18 May, a pub of three halves:
A downstairs bar serving drinks and home cooked food using local produce.
From June onwards, an upstairs bar serving drinks and food, whist showing sports and hosting live music and comedy nights.
A skittle alley.
The Red Lion is big and I mean really BIG. Hence we are able to have a pub of three halves (yes, I know)
From Tuesday 18 May: Downstairs, in a surprisingly INTIMATE BAR we will serve drinks as well as food lovingly prepared by our amazing kitchen team, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Come June, July and August we will open 11 - 11 for coffee (you should see what our barista has planned! ) and cakes as well as Dorset cream teas.
Upstairs (from June) THE LION'S DEN has it's own bar and will serve drinks and food including an obscenely dirty burger, whilst showing sports and featuring live music and comedy nights. Quiz nights are also planned. This area can also be transformed into a function suite for private meetings and family celebrations.
As if all this wasn't enough there is also a SKITTLE ALLEY and a walled GARDEN. Two bedrooms will be for self catering bed and breakfast, we issue gift vouchers and can talk about outside catering and homemade celebration cakes.
We are of course dog friendly and we serve half portions for half price for children and those with smaller appetites.
BEAMINSTER is a beautiful Dorset town. The Red Lion is in a conservation area and just walking the streets is a wonderful experience seeing the gorgeous architecture and thriving shops. The peace of the open countryside is minutes away and there are endless walks and bridleways. Ask us for guidance and we will have maps soon.
The beach at Burton Bradstock is a fifteen minute drive and that of course gives access to the rest of Jurassic Coast as well as a spectacularly dramatic drive on the coast road towards Weymouth. The area is not surprisingly popular with motorcyclists and we would love to see you but if you do please respect the 20 mph limit in the town.
We are proud to be a Palmers pub and serve their real ales brewed 6 miles down the road in Bridport. We of course serve lagers, wines and spirits as well as cider made from apples grown in an orchard less than a mile away and Black Cow Vodka, made two streets away!
Please see our Facebook page for what we are currently serving. Our mixers are normally from Fever Tree.
